Investors can benefit from using software to help them invest in options. Option valuation packages can help investors to assess prices and volatility levels of options. Underlying price data can be added to allow investors to assess volatility levels embedded in current option prices. Some packages also offer portfolio accounting, which may be helpful when more complex option strategies are used. The type of software that will be most useful for an investor will depend on the purpose the investor has and the type of operations carried out.

A data download service or dialup database are also available from a number of software companies and data suppliers.
