Miller Freeman follows how-to course

Article Abstract:

Miller Freeman Inc. began the bimonthly publication of InterActivity with the release of the May-June 1995 issue. The magazine is aimed at both beginner and advanced computer programmers who are planning to get into multimedia. The premiere issue sold 45,000 copies at $4.95 each. The title will have a controlled circulation of 50,000 beginning in Sep. 1995. Miller Freeman will also launch 3D Design, a trade journal which will detail how to produce three-dimensional images in the World Wide Web.

Firms want customers coming back for more

Article Abstract:

Retention marketing is becoming popular in the business community as more surveys show that it costs more to acquire a new customer than to retain an old one. According to a survey conducted by Marketing Metrics, businesses allocate 53% and 47% of their budgets to retain and to win customers, respectively. The new trend is reflected in merchants' use of customer databases and newsletters as marketing tools.

Sun follows Net to savings

Article Abstract:

Mountain View, CA-based Sun Microsystems Inc. posted a 26% increase in revenue during 1994 to $1.51 billion as compared to 1993 earnings. CEO Scott McNealy stresses that the growth was fueled by online transactions, cost-cutting activities and the use of Sun servers in the Internet. McNealy also notes that on-line operations has increased productivity and enhanced information management.
