Waterman Partnership is a consulting engineer which should benefit from a continued recovery in the United Kingdom construction industry. The revval of the commercial real estate market has helped the company's interim results. Waterman also has an environmental business which is profitable and which should benefit from a greater focus on usage of brownfield sites. The company's profits are forecast at 1.5 million pounds sterling for 1997 to 1998 by Beeson Gregory.

Article Abstract:

Quadrant faces financial problems due to the need to find funds to pay 1.6 million pounds sterling to Carlton Communications. The payment has to be made in Mar 1997 as a deferred consideration relating to Yewlands, acquired by Quadrant in 1994. The company may sell assets to raise the funds, or Carlton could accept shares in Quadrant which has a market value of 1.5 million pounds sterling in Aug 1996. Carlton could thus acquire a majority stake in the company.
