Robots ready and willing

Article Abstract:

The use of robots is spreading beyond the manufacturing industry. In Japan, robots can be found in many settings, including in construction sites, in reasearch centers and even in railway stations where they clean floors. There is even talk of developing robot agricultural workers since more Japanese are preferring blue and white collar work over land jobs. In the US, robots are already being widely used to deliver mail, medication and meals in hospitals. The UK is not far behind in the employment of robotics in non-manufacturing settings. Robotic policemen and medical robots have recently been introduced in the market by the firm The Armstrong Projects, while the National Rivers has just invented robots for catching polluters and for water quality monitoring. The benefits of robotics are enormous. They are not only cost-effective, but they can perform tasks that are unpleasant, impractical or impossible for humans to do.
