SBA Studies Export Trade Role

Article Abstract:

The Small Business Administration (SBA) published its 1984 'State of Small Business' annual report. The federal government is beginning to recognize the export marketing power of the export capabilities of nonexporting small businesses. Market penetration in small markets should be easier for small businesses than for large corporations. Data required to commence exporting activities can be astronomical for the small firm, as well as costs. Available to assist the small business in exporting are the export management companies, the export trading companies, the Department of Commerce, and the SBA.

Computer-Tracking the Elusive Reader Inquiry

Article Abstract:

Reader inquiries are difficult to process due to late delivery by the postal service and separation of legitimate and nonlegitimate customers. One solution is an on-line computer system to process the reader inquiries. The positive results could attract advertisers. Other technologies are employed in the process. Some companies use 800 telephone numbers in addition to reader inquiry cards. One technological option for advertisers is a computer-to-computer-system that allows continuous retrieval of inquiries. Magnetic tape is used to facilitate inquiry processing.
