Walking Man clothing

Article Abstract:

Cronan Artefact's Walking Man line of clothing received a gold award in the consumer products category of the 1992 I. D. Annual Design Review. The clothes were praised for their casual good looks which do not compromise flexibility of movement. The cotton fabrics provide warmth while at the same time allowing ventilation. Attention to small details are manifested in waistbands finished inside and out so they can be rolled up when needed, and pockets located down the leg near the ankles to allow easy access while sitting or walking. Michael Cronan of Cronan Design, San Francisco, CA, created the designs.

Designer clothing shop

Article Abstract:

The Designer Clothing Shop in the Edgemar complex at Santa Monica, CA, won a gold award in the environment category og the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. The Japanese clothing store was charaterized as highly dramatic, converting the shopping activity into a theatrical experience. This effect was achieved with the use of ropes and cables traversing space and supported in pace by notched geometrically articulated steel columns. A high-tech ambience was achieved by hanging clothes from some of the cables. Inspite of its high visual impact, the store surprisingly gives a a feeling of relaxation.

Wilke-Rodriguez showroom

Article Abstract:

The Wilke-Rodriguez showroom in New York, NY, won a gold award in the environments category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. The menswear showroom was praised for its intelligent use of space and consistency of design concept. For instance, the 1930s de Stijl color motif in one portion leads naturally to another portion with softer pastel colors. The use of a bronze-chain dividing curtain provides a refreshing modern touch without distracting from the overall motif. The design was made by Thad Hayes Design of New York, NY.
