An empirical method for targeting colleges

Article Abstract:

A five-point guide on how to select colleges where recruitment activities can be undertaken by prospective employers is presented. The process involves the combination of recruiting objectives, information available from an effective human capital management system and some number-crunching skills. Five steps are outlined in the process These are choosing the criteria, collecting the data, weighing the criteria, crunching the numbers and building on the base. Th how-tos of implementing eachstep of this guide are also presented.

Developing a fail-safe college recruiting plan via strategic planning

Article Abstract:

Strategic planning is important in the development of a college recruiting plan. The planning process should focus on four key elements such as funnel statistics, selecting schools, training interviewers and campus debrief. For successful development of a strategic plan for campus recruiting, underlying efforts must lead directly to the revenue goals that support the organization's business goals. Likewise, recruiting programs should involve the linkage between business objectives and recruitment objectives.

Lessons on landing lab techs

Article Abstract:

Cornell University Medical College (CUMC) used to have difficulties in recruiting laboratory research technicians. The recruitment problem was solved by informing a broader number of people about job openings. Advertising, interesting informational brochures, giveaways, Technical Opportunity Days and job fairs were among the strategies used by CUMC's employment relations unit. They also established contacts with science chairs and pre-med advisers, along with friends of prospective employees.
