Do Hiring Practices affect retention rates?

Article Abstract:

A survey of graduates who gained a Master's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations course at Cornwell University between 1986 and 1996, indicated that the recruitment practices of companies do not appear to have an impact on how long employees remain with a company. Respondents appear more interested in their employability resulting from working for a particular company rather than security within that company. As a result of the survey, companies are recommended to consider the career development of young recruits and the demands of the business when planning training.
