CHINA: GROWING DEMAND FOR TITANIUM DIOXIDE

Article Abstract:

China's consumption of titanium dioxide is forecast to grow 9% to 190,000 tonnes in 1999. About 130,000 of the total is used in the paints and varnishes industry. Five producers produce annually 4,600 tonnes of rutile titanium dioxide between them, while about 100 smaller firms make anatase sorts. Except for five producers, all have production volumes below 5,000 tpy.
