Entangled photon absorption in an organic porphyrin dendrimer

Article Abstract:

A novel effect of the two-photon absorption (TPA) method utilizing the high degree of quantum optical correlation between photon pairs created by the process of spontaneous parametric down conversion is described. A large entangled two-photon absorption (ETPA) cross-section was measured in an organic porphyrin dendrimer and its magnitude suggests that the correlated process most likely involves a single step process by comparable cross-section value to SPA cross-section.

Influence of electronic correlation on structural, dynamic, and elastic properties of Mg2Si

Article Abstract:

The impact of electronic correlation on the charge density distribution, band structure, lattice parameters, phonon frequencies and first-order elastic constants of Mg2Si are studied via ab initio calculations. Several levels of approximations are tested which include Hartree-Fock-Roothaan calculations without correlation energy connection and Hartree-Fock with a posteriori correlation energy correction determined using density functional theory.

Aggregates of quadrupolar dyes: Giant two-photon absorption from biexciton states

Article Abstract:

A model for aggregates of quadrupolar (DAD or ADA) molecules that relaxes the dipolar approximation for intermolecular electrostatic interactions is described. It is shown that the large two-photon absorption cross-section, typical of quadrupolar chromophores, can be further amplified by orders of magnitude as a result of aggregation.
