Monoclinic structured BiVO(sub 4) nanosheets: Hydrothermal preparation, formation mechanism and coloristic and photocatalytic properties

Article Abstract:

Bismuth vanadate (BiVO(sub 4)) nanosheets were synthesized hydrothermally in the presence of a morphology directing agent sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) and were studied with the help of modern techniques of spectroscopy and electron microscopy. The BiVO(sub 4) nanosheets showed a monoclinic structure with a preferred surface orientation, outstanding spectral selectivity, improved color properties and higher photcatalytic activities.

Synthesis and electrochemical properties of nanostructured LiCoO(sub 2) fibers as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Article Abstract:

The preparation of nanostructural LiCoO(sub 2) fibers with 500 nm to 2 (mu)m in diameter by the sol-gel assisted electrospinning technique is introduced and electrochemical properties of LiCoO(sub 2) are investigated. The X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy analyses indicated large loss of capacity of fiber electrode during charge-discharge process resulting from dissolution of cobalt and lithium cations.

Fabrication of CuO pricky microspheres with tunable size by a simple solution route

Article Abstract:

The fabrication of CuO pricky microspheres (CPMs) is done by introducing a simple aqueous solution route using CuCl(sub 2).2H(sub 2)O. Na(sub 2)[C(sub 4)H(sub 4)O(sub 6)].3H(sub 2)O and NaOH as starting material. The results show that he fabrication of CPMs went through rapid nucleation of Cu(OH)2, aggregation and in situ dehydration of Cu(OH)2, oriented-aggregation-based growth, and normal crystal growth of CuO nanothorns.
