NETHERLANDS: DSM INVESTMENT IN 7-ADCA

Article Abstract:

DSM of the Netherlands is spending more than Fl 250mn on the construction of a production plant for 7-amino-desacetoxy-cephalosporan acid (7-ADCA) in Delft. The agent used in the production of antibiotics will be produced in a new biotechnology process based on fermentation. Among the advantages of the new process are lower costs, higher energy efficiency and higher purity of the product. After the start-up of the new facility in the second half of 2000, production at an existing plant and in Matosinhos, Portugal, is to be reduced.

Condea Japan is to challenge the market leader Kyowa Chemical Industry by launching hydrotalcite on the Japanese market. In Brunsbuttel Condea started production of the PVC resin stabiliser at an annual rate of 15,000 tonnes.
