Characterization of the structure of RuO2-IrO2/Ti electrodes by EXAFS

Article Abstract:

An extended X-ray absorption fine structure measurement was used to examine the structure of the oxide layers of the RuO2-IrO2/Ti electrode system and the thermal decomposition processes of RuCl3 and IrCls to form their respective oxides. Results showed that the heating of both chlorides causes them to decompose into their respective oxides. The coordination number of the oxide ions around the ruthenium and iridium ions increase with the calcination temperature. Moreover, the binary oxide system of RuO2-IrO2 forms a solid solution.

Salt catalysts containing basic anions and acidic cations for the sol-gel process of titanium alkoxide: controlling the kinetics and dimensionality of the resultant titanium oxide

Article Abstract:

The use of ammonium carbonate catalyst containing basic anions and acidic cations significantly enhanced the sol-gel process from titanium alkoxide monomer to titanium oxide polymer. Deprotonation and dehydroxylation were involved in the dehydrative polycondensation of the sol-gel process. The former was enhanced by using the carbonate anion as a base catalyst while the latter was improved by using the ammonium cation as the acid catalyst. Monolithic titanium oxide gel, consisting of sheet-like titanium oxide particles, was produced when ammonium acetate was used as the catalyst.
