Self-assembly of alkanoic acids on gold surfaces modified by underpotential deposition

Article Abstract:

The experiment was done to present an alternative to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of omega-functionalized alkanethiols on gold surface modified by electrochemical deposition of silver or copper monolayers. The results show that the metal adlayers promote the anchoring of carboxalate headgroups and assembly of omega-alkanoic acids, which would otherwise exhibit no chemisorption on bare gold.

A theoretical investigation of the methylation of alkenes with methanol over acidic zeolites

Article Abstract:

A quantum chemical investigation of the methylation of alkenes by methanol over acidic zeolite catalysts is performed. The activation barrier decreases as the size of the alkene increases, which means that the product from one reaction step is more reactive than the initial reactant.

Interface dipoles arising from self-assembled monolayers on gold: UV-photoemission studies of alkanethiols and partially fluorinated alkanethiols

Article Abstract:

Compact monolayers films were seen with long incubation times of gold surface in alkanethiol solutions. This is indicated by the significant decrease in emission intensity.
