Surface treatment to enhance the quantum efficiency of semiconductor nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

The photoluminescence quantum efficiency of semiconductor nanocrystals, at room temperature, was enhanced about 50 times by surface treatment of the nanocrystals after synthesis. The nanocrystal surface was treated with a small amount of sodium borohydride in toluene at room temperature and the original photoluminescence peak position and narrow line width were maintained.

Fluorescence anisotropy and crystal structure of individual semiconductor nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

The polarization state of the fluorescence emission of individual CdSe/ ZnS nanocrystals is investigated and an attempt is made to establish a correlation with their crystalline properties. The results show that even spherical particles emit elliptically polarized light, which can in principle be explained by a 2D transition dipole.

Computational study of surface structure and crystal morphology of gamma-Fe2O3: Toward deterministic synthesis of nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

A computational study on surface structures and morphologies of gamma-Fe2O3 crystals is presented. The morphology prediction in this work is based upon theoretical calculations that treat the crystal itself, and does not consider its environment. The surface energy was used to evaluate the equilibrium morphology.
