Transmission electron microscopy study of pseudoperiodically twinned Zn(sub 2)SnO(sub 4) nanowires

Article Abstract:

A remarkable type of Zn(sub 2)SnO(sub 4) nanowires with a pseudoperiodical twinning structure is investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). High-resolution TEM examinations suggest that a large fraction of the twin boundaries are extended to a thickness of a few nanometers and the twining plane for the perfect case is localized on the Zn atom layer.

Growth mechanism, photoluminescence, and field-emission properties of ZnO nanoneedle arrays

Article Abstract:

ZnO nanoneedle arrays are grown on a large scale with a chemical vapor deposition method at 680 degree Celsius and Zn powder and O2 gas and are employed as source materials and catalyst-free Si plates are used as substrates. Field-emission examination exhibits that the ZnO nanoneedle arrays have a turn-on voltage at about 5.3 V/mum.

Transmission-electron-microscopy study on fivefold twinned silver nanorods

Article Abstract:

Structural features of pentagonal Ag nanorods are investigated using transmission electron microscopy. A cross sectional observation reveals the remarkable fivefold twinning structure and related defects in this kind of nanomaterial.
