WESTERN EUROPE: COATING PIGMENTS MARKET IN 1998

Article Abstract:

According to a study by IAL Consultants of London, the consumption of pigments and fillers by west European paint and varnish producers amounted to EUR 2.7bn in 1998. The sales of white pigments amounted to EUR 1.5bn, with titanium dioxide accounting for EUR 1.4bn. The sales of fillers amounted to 1.2mn tonnes worth EUR 175mn. Calcium carbonate accounted for 60% of the total.

POLAND: TITANIUM DIOXIDE INVESTMENT

Article Abstract:

In Poland, Zaktady Chemiczne Police is to raise the annual output of titanium dioxide to 54,000 tonnes. Currently annual production capacity is being raised to 40,000. Until now annual production amounted to up to 37,000 tonnes. In year 2000 Zaktady Chemiczne Police made a net profit of Zl 1.3mn on a turnover of Zl 1.4bn.

US: DUPONT UPS TITANIUM DIOXIDE OUTPUT

In the third quarter of year 2000 DuPont is to bring on stream a third titanium dioxide production line at its site in New Johnsonville, Tennessee, in order to meet increased demand.
