Automated Systems: A Blur or a Vision?

Article Abstract:

The appearance of office automation in business has made it difficult to separate job functions into distinct classifications. This article addresses itself to those factors in office automation that create this situation. Employees, through the use of office automation, are performing similar duties. Information is entered through a keyboard, utilizes a software program and outputs on a printer. Executives and secretaries alike can program their own equipment to meet information storage, manipulation, retrieval and graphic needs. As more office operations become automated, career growth will depend upon continued education and skill development programs.

Anatomy of ANI-WP System Part III - The Keyboard

Article Abstract:

A keyboard is an essential part of a word processing system but is generally ignored. All keyboards have alpha-numeric keys, as well as control and function keys. Keyboards have special features for text entry and editing which, depending on the system, may be file management functions, column relocation, merge and search capabilities, numbering, spacing, and alignment. No keyboard can be used to its maximum potential without some training. Design, color and control functions vary from system to system.
