Handsome Offices Can Be Productive

Article Abstract:

The Automobile Club of Southern California, which services three million members and administers eighty-five district offices, has won a 1983 'Offices of the Year' award. The layout of functions and equipment in the beautifully appointed structure is designed to promote the work flow. The facility uses a Honeywell 1000 System to monitor its efficient environmental system plus security. Operations are supported by two IBM 3033 mainframe computers, a General Instrument Documate 7000 for processing checks, a 3M 715 COM for producing microfiche and microfilm, 280 terminals, and six CPT word processing clusters. Photographs of the facility are included.

Messge Alerting System Keeps Busy Professionals in Touch with Their Offices

DictAlert, a message alerting system introduced by Dictaphone Corp., interfaces with Dictaphone's basic remote telephone answering system, Ansafone. DictAlert features push-button controls, rotary and tone plug-compatibility, and LED status and function indicators. The system sells for $495. A photograph of the system is included.
