Konica bets on digital camera popularity, hones strategies for promotion

Konica Corp will expand its digital cameral lineup in France and other European countries and boost sales activities in the US and Asia, in a move to grab a global market share of 10%. As the company develops advanced digital cameras with over one million pixels, it also producews low-cost models to generate huge-volume sales. Positioned as a model photo shops, Konica has developed the QD-21 Mini-Laboratory System which enables digital printing and data input from different media.

Olympus ties MO drive marketing to digital cameras

Olympus Optical Company Ltd is in unique position to adopt a strategy linking 3.5-in magneto-optical (MO) disc drives to the firm's digital still cameras because it is among the few firms that produce both products. The Japanese firm, which is poised to expand its MO drive lineup, stresses that most of its marketing programs for MO drives have been geared toward power users and purchasers of office automation systems.
