Electronics fuel today's inboard systems

Article Abstract:

Advances in electronic fuel injection technology have led to the development of a new generation of diesel inboard engines. According to manufacturers, the use of electronic systems improves power, fuel cost and emissions of fuel injection engines and makes them easier to maintain. Among these new diesel inboards are the Cummins QSM-11, Indmar Malibu LS-1 Corvette and the Yanmar 6CXM-GTE.

2001 inboard models are quieter and more reliable

Article Abstract:

Inboard manufacturers aim for better performance, more durability and less maintenance with their 2001 model year offerings. Westerbeke Corp is launching the Century Series diesel models, targeted at displacement vessels in the 100-ft range. Pleasurecraft Engine Group's 8.1L gasoline inboard engine replaces General Motor's 7.4L and 8.2L big block engines and features a number of high-tech advances that promise to enhance long- term durability and fuel efficiency. Other offerings come from Crusader, MackPower and Caterpillar Inc.

Mercury jet drive 'weds' Sea-Doo sport boat

Article Abstract:

Mercury Marine will provide its new M2 jet-drive engine to five lines of the Sea-Doo Sports Boats from Bombardier Corp. The products, which were unveiled during the 1999 International Marine Trades and Exhibit Conference, were the results of a joint product development initiative that ensured the proper fit and mounting of the M2 engines with the Sea- Doo hulls. The Mercury engines' mating to the Bombardier hulls brings together the biggest marine engine maker with the maker of the best- selling boats.
