The industry has come a long way since 1952. Back then the market was homogeneous. Everyone wanted their own home. Some experts say there's still plenty of demand for housing. But the construction industry is faced with a new problem of providing homes that the baby-boomers can afford and yet suit their diverse lifestyles.

This experimental house was designed as a living laboratory. This house supplies the need for smaller homes at higher densities for a growing market. This market includes singles, childless couples or couples with only 1 child, divorced people, etc. Housing magazine designed it. It is a 1,182 sq. ft., 3 bedroom plan.
