ADVO adds weekend mainling program in Las Vegas

Article Abstract:

ADVO Inc, a direct mail marketing company based in Windsor, CT, will launch a new weekend shared-mailing program in Las Vegas, NV, in Jul 2000. The mailing will be on Fridays and Saturdays and is targeted to about 500,000 households in the Las Vegas area. The program will be participated by more than 24 national, regional and local retailers. Categories include automotive, electronics, home furnishings and health products.

PCH lays off 213 employees

Article Abstract:

Publishers Clearing House of Port Washington, NY, has laid-off 213 of its employees since Nov 17, 1999. The job terminations, which represents 27% of the company's workforce, has been attributed to the negative press being received by the direct mail sweepstakes industry. Publishers Clearing House made the downsizing move in the wake of the preliminary approval of a nationwide class-action settlement.
