Article Abstract:

Czech architect Eva Jiricna has been commissioned to design the Spirit Zone in the Millennium Dome project, which will focus on religious issues. Jiricna says she was taught the importance of architecture in communities when she studied in Prague in the late 1960s. She was always encouraged to focus on interior design because of her sex, but broke away from being stereotyped and became interested in structure design. Her ideal would be to have complete artistic control over the interior and exterior design of a building.

Architectural practice Fitzroy Robinson is set to face a compensation claim from former directors Peter Thompson and Nigel Warner, who claim that they were wrongly dismissed. The company reports that the dismissal of the two men followed differences of opinion over strategy, but Thompson and Warner claim that they have no idea why they were dismissed. They believe that the company acted in contravention of their service contracts by dismissing them without warning.
