Architects voice protest over HBF report

Article Abstract:

Architects claim their profession is devalued in a report by the House Builders Federation. The report recommends housebuilders are employed to design and construct housing association projects so as to cut out architects' fees. The use of housebuilders is also recommended so that the development risk can be shared and building land purchased. The report states architects bear no responsibility for designing a buildable scheme for housing associations, a claim which is refuted by RIBA. RIBA declares the report is irresponsible nonsense.
