Arcs for art's sake: a dramatic, curved structure is taking shape on a Lancaster hill, the resting place for John Ruskin's archive

Article Abstract:

The new Ruskin library currently being built on a Lancaster hill will open as a public archive of paintings and manuscripts by John Ruskin, a 19th century art critic and social reformer. The building is designed by MacCormac Jamieson Prichard, architect, and has been constructed inside a protective membrane to keep the structure and materials as dry as possible to house the precious collection. Modern materials such as concrete have been used and the building features curved elevations.
