Banker's draught

Article Abstract:

A high-tech triple-glazed cladding system has been used by architectural firm Foster and Partners for Citibank's new HQ building in London, England. This system is based around an internally vented facade made up of a prefabricated triple-skin glass cladding with an integral air plenum. A ventilation 'cycle' is located at each storey, with air being drawn into the plenum through vents at floor level and sucked out above suspended ceiling level by the air-handling system. Solar and glare control is provided with manually operated Venetian blinds within the plenum.

Brain teaser

Article Abstract:

Architectural firm Armes Associates produced an innovative design for the 1.3 million pounds sterling Icanho Centre, a brain-injury rehabilitation centre developed by the John Grooms Association for Disabled People in Stowmarket, England. The design reflects the fact that the centre is intended to function more like a workplace than a residential healthcare facility, with emphasis being placed on stimulating activity among visitors. Design features include an undulating double-monopitch zinc roof and an undulating internal mall with a continuous rooflight.
