Kaufman and Broad's California Traditions community in Lancaster, CA, illustrates the concept of livable streets and a usable front porches. This caters to the residents' esire to socialize with their neighbors and enhances the feeling of community. The houses in that community have elevations which focuses on the house itself instead of the garage and employs traditional materials such as brick, siding and stone. Meanwhile, the interiors are more up-to-date and feature an open plan which allows family members to attend to their individual concerns while still being together.
