Brunswick: trouble ahead if appeal rejected

Article Abstract:

Brunswick Corp. has admitted that there could be trouble ahead in the form of many lawsuits from other boatbuilders if its appeal to overturn a verdict finding the company guilty of antitrust violations is rejected. It is the first time that the Lake Forest, IL-based company acknowledged that it could encounter trouble since the guilty verdict was handed down by a Little Rock, AR, jury, who awarded 21 member firms of the Independent Boat Builders Inc. buying group in Benton, IL. Brunswick has filed for petitions requesting the court to overturn the verdict as well as additional post-trial petitions, which consisted of an appeal for a new trial.

All in the family: how do you convince your kids to take over the family business? Do you even want to?

Article Abstract:

Many marine businessmen, who had started the business from scratch and made it into successful venture, are worried that their children will not continue the business, as they may be interested in trying out some other lucrative career options. The dealers feel that the best way to bring the children into the family business is by letting them make their own decision, relinquishing control gradually and after the children are ready for the responsibility, giving them the control.
