BBDO spinoff network opens in Canada

Article Abstract:

Proximity in Jan 2001 opened branches in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, Canada, and is planning to enter the US from there in the future. Formed in the UK in Sep 2000, the company is a BBDO spinoff worldwide network of direct marketing and interactive agencies. According to Sarah Simpson, CEO of the Canadian operation, the network is 'designing tools,' such as one referred to as Brand IT and a software called Mediator, 'to build customer relationships and reigniting ties to brands.'

Screaming Media eyes Germany

Article Abstract:

Screaming Media plans to enter the German market in 2d qtr 2001 after opening branches in London, UK, and Paris, France, in April and November of last year, respectively. According to Eric Monjalous, VP in charge of European development, the move was in response to Europe's rapidly increasing online use, which is growing faster than in the US. Monjalous said Germany will be the biggest market in Europe, bigger than the UK and France.

Carlson expands in Europe, Asia; more acquisitions in the works

Article Abstract:

Carlson Marketing Group is expanding in Asia and in Europe. The company has announced the acquisition of Performance Nordic in Norway and Direct International in Singapore and is planning to announce two other Asian acquisitions in South Korea and Indonesia before the end of May 2001. Carlsoon Marketing Group's most important target in Asia Pacific is channel marketing. It noted that 25% of revenue comes from overseas, with most of the growth outside the US.
