Adidas scraps BTC Web sales in Europe, plans to expand BTB

Article Abstract:

Adidas-Salomon AG has discontinued selling sporting goods to consumers on the Internet in Europe but plans to establish its online business-to- business operations in the region. However, Adidas-Salomon spokesman Jan Runau said closing the online shop was temporary and that the Herzogenaurach, Germany-based firm would evaluate its online experience in Europe to see how it could fit into the company's future Web strategy.

Forrester study: Europe's multi-PC households are growing segment

Article Abstract:

Personal computer (PC) penetration in European households will increase to 61% by 2005, according to a study conducted in mid-2000 by Forrester Research. The study, however added, that the industry growth will be fueled by owners with multiple PCs at home. Edwin van der Harst, an analyst at Forrester's European headquarters at Amsterdam, said the number of consumers with two or more PCs will rise at a rate of 19% per year by 2005, with annual compounded home PC growth leveling out at 7%.

Online ad growth predicted in Europe

Article Abstract:

Online advertising in Europe will soar between 2001 and 2006 from $1.5 billion-$4.2 billion, according to a report by Boston, MA-headquarter research and consulting company Yankee Group. The report advised advertisers, creative agencies and content developers to change their focus from banners toward the 'multichannel interactive market.' Banners are predicted to drop from 53% of advertising spending in 2001 to 40% in 2006.
