Content deals prepare Inflightonline.com for liftoff

Internet content provider Inflightonline.com has signed several deals with various lifestyle and business publications, which will result in the creation of an online 'flying newstand' for airline passengers through its Web site. The Web site will debut aboard airplanes by late fall 2000 after undergoing two months of testing. Airline passengers will be able to view current and archived articles from the magazines for free. Inflightonline plans to generate revenue through ad sales, content deals and transaction- fee sales agreements.

Ingram to fill some Amazon orders

Article Abstract:

Amazon.com has outsourced the fulfillment of orders for single-copy books that are not available from its inventory to Ingram Book Group. The former will pay Ingram an undisclosed amount for the fulfillment service, and is part of a plan to farm out some of its operations. The partnership between the two companies comes after Amazon began overseeing online orders for Borders Books, which had a previous fulfillment agreement with Ingram.
