Two Internet World Wide Web services are offering roofing contractors a cost effective and novel approach to identifying prospective customers. Both online enterprises are essentially matching services companies. The first, Redwood City, CA-based ImproveNet.com, began operations in 1996 and clearly targets the home improvement market. Redmond, WA-based imandi.com, on the other hand, started operating in 1999 and enables consumers to seek bids for different types of products and services, including roofing.

A&M Roofing: the time was right for metal roofing
Article Abstract:
A&M Roofing and Sheet Metal's restoration of the copper roof of the Ayer Mill Clock Tower in Lawrence, MA, won top honors in the Restoration category in RSI's Metal Roofing Awards for 2000. The clock tower is located inside the mill complex formerly owned by the American Woolen Co. Both structures are now owned by the Merrimack Valley Community Foundation, which spearheaded the restoration. A&M used copper from Revere Copper Products on the battens, curved and flat panels, crimped hips and dormer trim.

Four roofing contractors end decade on a high note

Roofing Siding Insulation magazine has bestowed its annual RSI Roofing Contractors of the Year Award to two companies and awarded two other companies its Certificate of Merit. The two winners, Montgomery, AL-based Standard Roofing Co and Las Vegas, NV-based Commercial Roofers Inc, as well as the two runners-up, San Jose, CA-based Renaissance Roofing Co and Irving, TX-based Ark Roofing, were selected for their excellence in all aspects of the busines, including workmanship, sales, marketing and community/industry service.
