Cool alternatives to hot roofing

Article Abstract:

New York City's rule outlawing the use of liquified petroleum gas (propane) torches on combustible surfaces ( Title 3, Rules of the City of New York (RCNY) 25-01, has roofing contractors seeking new ways to accommodate the law. At a seminar, they learned that 600 serious building fires over the past 10 years accounted for over $750 million in property loss. Of those fires, 21% were attributed to hot work, according to FM Global. Moreover, 66.5% of hot work fires in a recent five-year period were due to contractors. A seminar held for roofing contracts is discussed.
