DFS, West Marine form financing agreement

Article Abstract:

West Marine Inc, the nation's largest retailer of marine supplies and apparel, has entered into a strategic alliance with St Louis, MO-based Deutsche Financial Services (DFS), the world's largest financial institution. Under the agreement, which was announced in Dec 1999, DFS will be the exclusive provider of marine financing to Watsonville, CA- based West Marine customers. The program is expected to start on Feb 1, 2000.

The acquisition of Bombardier Recreational Products division by Bain Capital, the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec pension fund and members of the Bombardier family has been welcomed by Bombardier dealers. The involvement of the members of the Bombardier family is considered to be the major reason behind dealers' opinions.
