Double dutch

Article Abstract:

Redlands Roofing Systems is to introduce a new, prefabricated roof developed in the Netherlands. The Isodek Total Roof was developed by Dakbouw and consists of two timber leaves joined by hinges. Erecting the new roofs, which have no cross-braces, compares favourable with traditional methods, with three workers able to complete nine roofs in five days. However, Mark Biffin of Westbury Homes believes the system is unlikely to be popular in the UK because it is too radical.

Tadashi Kawamata's world of wood

Article Abstract:

Japanese conceptual artist Tadashi Kawamata specializes in working in three dimensions and is constructing a wooden replica of London's Serpentine Gallery. The 5,000 pounds sterling, 1:1 replica, situated in London's Hyde Park, has no foundations and lies on a timber floor grid. The idea is that visitors will walk through the structure whilst being able to see the original building a few yards away.
