LifeMinders enters wireless arena

Herndon, VA-based electronic-mail marketing firm LifeMinders.com has acquired Boulder, CO-based wireless weather forecaster WITI Corp in Apr 2000. The acquisition of WITI enables LifeMinders.com to deliver personalized wireless weather updates to customers of its business-to- business partners and to its 12.5 million members, wherever and whenever they need the information. The company also plans to develop the same wireless service for its other lifestyle categories.

MagMall enters personalization deal

Los Angeles, CA-based Magmall.com has entered into a partnership with Strategic Data Corp of Santa Monica, CA. The transaction involves providing the online circulation firm with personalization and analytical tools. MagMall will use Strategic Data Corp's technology to add personal product information to its services. The PerfectClerk program will helpp identify prpeferred reading material for MagMall's customers through a combination of demographic information with an analysis of their behavior on the MagMall Web site.

DoubleClick's plan to buy NetCreations raises privacy talk

Article Abstract:

DoubleClick Inc has announced its plan to buy e-mail list development and management firm NetCreations Inc. The acquisition involves a stock swap valued at $191 million. The consolidation of the two companies would result in the creation of the largest e-mail list management firm in the industry with 22 million e-mail addresses. Their combined e-mail database wold consist of both double and single opt-in names. However, anti-spam observers are concerned over NetCreations' acceptance of DoubleClick's offer due to DoubleClick's less-than-stellar privacy record.
