EBay challenger faces merger problems

Article Abstract:

The planned merger between two online auction houses UK-based QXL and Germany-based Ricardo has been stalled due to the German company's poor performance in 4th qtr FY 2000. As a result, QXL revised its stock swap offer from 42 shares to 34 shares for one Ricardo share. Another reason for the delay is the failure by Ricardo to launch is business-to-business platform on Jan 17. The merger, which would create a direct challenger to eBay, is scheduled to push through in October.
