Jet-boat makers fight back with bigger models

Article Abstract:

Jet-boat makers have introduced larger models that have the amenities found on traditional boats but still offer the whirling, shallow-draft ride favored by jet-boat enthusiasts. Among them is Yamaha Marine which launched the LS2000, a 20-foot twin-drive, 270-hp model. The LS2000 can accelerate from zero to 20 mph with five passengers in 3.99 seconds and has a top speed of 55 mph. It consumes 11.6 gallons of fuel an hour at 5,000 rpm.
