Regulators: First Data lags in Y2K compliance

Article Abstract:

First Data Corp of Atlanta, GA, has promised regulators that it will complete the Y2K testing of its credit card processing systems by Jun 1999 and implement the system by Jul 11, 1999. The company has been delayed in meeting and implementing the guidelines outlined by the Federal Financial Institutions Council in 1997 which says that all systems should be Y2K compliant. First Data will present a report in 15 days on how it intends to make its systems year 2000 ready.;

The company's sales reached $4.25 billion in 1998, up by 77% over 1997. The market is growing at an average rate of 50% annually and is projected to reach $113 billion by 2002. Other majors vendors in the market are Compaq, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems and Andersen Consulting/Arthur Andersen.

SAS program manages telecommunications churn

SAS Institute Inc of Cary Inc of Cary, NC, has launched its Churn Management Solution (CMS) customer relationship management tool. CMS is designed to help telecommunication companies to reduce customer defection. The software manages the entire churn proces, including the collection and storage of data, modeling of churn behavior, and the distribution of information via corporate intranets and portals.
