Ticketmaster picks up Evite.com

Ticketmaster has acquired Evite.com, a Web site that enables viewers to send invitations for events. The acquisition will provide Ticketmaster with Evite's self-reported 1 million monthly visitors. Ticketmaster will use its new site's content as a cross-promotional venue for its ticket sales and for its community information site, CitySearch.com. The service will allow viewers to send invitations featuring concert, restaurant and other information all at the same time.

Webvan finishes HomeGrocer makeover

Struggling online grocer Webvan Group has completed the installation of inventory and delivery software systems at warehouses in Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR, that it bought from HomeGrocer in 2000. The effort completes the last phase of Webvan's plan to put in place its own technology at several former HomeGrocer locations. The software systems will bring several advantages to Webvan, including real-time inventory reports and overall operational efficiency.
