American Student List, Council settle claim

Article Abstract:

American Student List Company Inc of Mineola, NY, has settled a claim it filed in 1999 against the Washington-based Educational Assistance Council (EAC). The settlement, reach in Apr 2000, requires the EAC to issue an acknowledgement of its wrongdoing in a press statement. American Student List has accused the EAC of transfering names provided by the company to a third party in an illegal manner, something that is expressly forbidden in the list rental agreement.

FTC, media scrutiny concern list executives

Article Abstract:

Chris Paradysz, chief executive officer of Paradysz Matera, and Chicca D'Agostino, have expressed concerns regarding the investigations of the list companies and their practices by the Federal Trade Commission and the consumer press. Remedial measures to be adopted by list companies, which would prevent further legislations being slapped on the industry, are suggested.

Guidance offered on FTC ruling list practices

Article Abstract:

The Direct Marketing Association has released guidance for the Federal Trade Commission in the settlement involving three list companies. In a meeting conducted by the DMA the focus was on the case involving three list companies and clarifications for the violation of law were sought.
