HTA slams 2000 Village inquiry as 'whitewash.'

Article Abstract:

HTA Architects Director Ben Derbyshire has raised doubts about a report by Gardiner & Theobald into the 250 million pounds sterling Greenwich Millennium Village scheme. HTA was removed from the scheme in Jun 1999. Derbyshire claims that the report is not an independent analysis of the scheme and that it fails to address the claim that prompted HTA's removal. A source on the Greenwich Millennium Village advisory panel has dismissed Derbyshire's views.

Farrell's anguish in China

Article Abstract:

Architectural firm Terry Farrell & Partners is disappointed that it lost the competition to design a 30 million pounds sterling National Grand Theatre in Beijing, China. Terry Farrell says he is not resentful that the contract went to French firm Aeroports de Paris, which fought off competition from 40 architects, including 16 from China. Farrell believes that the French company won because France supports architecture as a cultural export.
