Hot topic: cold process

Article Abstract:

Further evidence of the increasing popularity of cold-applied modified bitumen roofing systems is reflected in the fact that cold adhesives are being widely supplied in a variety of packaging choices. Cold adhesives can be applied in a variety of ways and their use is said to have risen rapidly since 1996. Technical advisors warn, however, that contractors should stick to using cold adhesives that are approved for use with specific modified bitumen membranes.

The power behind SPF adhesives

Article Abstract:

Roofing contractors have become knowledgeable about the advantages offered by two-component, low rise spray polyurethane foam (SPF) adhesives in roofing systems. SPF could be the best choice when mechanical fasteners are too expensive or labor-intensive to install. SPF adhesives could also be the preferred alternative when through-deck penetration with mechanical fasteners is not viable.
