How to maintain urethane foam roof systems

Article Abstract:

Sprayed polyurethane foam has been widely used in roofing for at least 20 years and provides several advantages. However, polyurethane foam roofing must be sealed properly with a protective coating to protect it from the effects of weather, especially ultraviolet rays. A number of coatings are available in the market that are quite effective in protecting polyurethane foam roof systems. It is important that the existing coating be maintained, and re-painting done with the same type of coating. Properly installed foam roofs can last for many years with proper maintenance. They should also be inspected on a semi-annual basis, with particular attention paid to certain areas, as part of the maintenance routine.
