Lillian Vernon has slashed its workforce by 12%, laying off 40 people companywide. The move was in response to a slowing economy and decreased consumer spending that has resulted in a sales shortfall. The layoffs are part of the company's restructuring plan to streamline operations, control costs and reduce operating expenses. Lillian Vernon will consolidate its call center in Las Vegas, NV, into its primary call center, located at its national distribution center in Virginia Beach, VA.
