Land and freedom

Article Abstract:

As many as 120,000 new affordable homes are needed in Britain each year, although only 30-40,000 are built, and most are beyond the reach of those who need them most. The urban environment is becoming hostile due to traffic growth and the loss of green space. New settlements in the countryside threaten landscapes. Some environmentalists, housing activists, organic farmers and builders have joined forces to pursue The Land is Ours campaign, with the aim of developing derelict land to serve the needs of the local community and the homeless.
