Overhead smash

Article Abstract:

Carl Kowsky has invented a retractable tensile fabric roof system. The lightweight roof was originally intended for use at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to roof the Wimbledon centre court. However, the club rejected the system and Kowsky has continued to develop it and is looking for markets in other countries. The roof comprises flat trusses carrying the tensioned fabric and joined by swivelling pin joints. The structure is moved by hydraulic winches and can flex, so is easier to move than rigid retractable roofs.
