Lift expectancy

Article Abstract:

Researchers are studying ways of decreasing the length of time between a lift being ordered and finally delivered for installation. Reading University, Reading, England, is developing a software package for the Schindler 300 series of lifts. The company hopes that by using the computer lifts can be configurated more rapidly and changes to designs made more easily. Further investment is necessary before the research can be used in lift design. Schindler has already developed a technique in the modular construction of lifts but its use is limited.

Article Abstract:

UK house builders may consider themselves at the cutting edge of design but are often let down by an inability to move away from the concept of 1980s design which imposes rigid ideas of interior and external styling. Ultra modern fixtures and fittings are usually considered too daring for standard housing developments, although researchers have discovered at significant market for such homes. Builders need to ensure they are building a product which will appeal to a wide section of home buyers.
