Lycos makes play for Gamesville.com

Article Abstract:

Internet portal Lycos Inc has announced a deal to acquire online gaming site Gamesville.com of Waterville, MA, for $207 million in stock. The acquisition would enable Lycos to access Gamesville.com's highly targeted database of 2.2 million registered users who play games online in a multi- user environment. Around 63% of Gamesville's users are women in their mid- thirties, either college students or homemakers.

Maxxcom purchases Interfocus network

Maxxcom Inc of Toronto, Canada, has acquired a majority interest in Interfocus Network Ltd, a firm based in London, UK, that offers services such as Internet and direct marketing, sponsorship, ad production, sales promotion and design. The acquisition of 60% interest in Interfocus provides Maxxcom access to clients such as Gillette, Lloyds, Microsoft, Sheaffer Pen, Eurobet.com, London Transport and Diageo.
